Information We Collect

When logging into the BIMUN 2026 app, we collect the following information for authentication purposes:

  • Badge number
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Conference position / role
This data is collected once during login and is used exclusively for identity verification.

How We Use Your Data

The collected information is used solely for verifying your identity within the app and ensuring the correct functionality of your digital badge. After initial authentication, data is stored locally on your device, except for gossip submissions and badge numbers used for moderation.

Gossip Box

The Gossip Box feature stores the submitter's badge number securely on our servers for moderation purposes. This data is treated with strict confidentiality and is only accessible to authorized personnel responsible for content moderation.

Gossip submissions are anonymous to other users, but your badge number is retained to enforce community guidelines.

Notifications

We use OneSignal to deliver push notifications. OneSignal collects your device identifier and your position within the conference to personalize the notifications you receive. This information is anonymized and cannot be used to personally identify you.

Analytics & PostHog

We use PostHog, a product analytics platform, to understand how users interact with the BIMUN 2026 app. PostHog helps us improve the app by collecting anonymized usage data, including:

  • Pages and features visited within the app
  • Session duration and frequency of use
  • Device type, operating system, and app version

PostHog data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not use analytics to track or identify individual users. No personal information (name, badge number, birthdate) is sent to PostHog.

Your personal data — excluding Gossip Box submissions and badge numbers used for moderation — is stored locally on your device after initial authentication. It is not retained on external servers.

We follow a local-first approach, minimizing the amount of personal data stored on our infrastructure.
